Went in last week for lunch on the 25th August. I must say I thought the food was rather nice. I use the Pond Quay buffet on Salford Quays quite a lot and as it was being renovated I tool a trip to Chinatown with my old man for a quick bite. We chose here as there were so many Berger places to choose from we just picked any.
I had a mixture of food, I had the hot and sour soup and chicken and sweetcorn soup, both of which were nice. I had both the salt and pepper ribs and BBQ both of which were also quite good. Some were a little lacking in meat butt hat can happen anywhere you go, others had lots of meat. I had a mixture of mains from sweet and sour to their beef balls which was peppery and very more'ish. With bottles and cans of drink on buy one get one free for £3.30 you only need to by one for two people dining. Therefore my old man and I dined for £15 with a bottle of beer each for as much as we could eat which we thought was fair. Yes indeed the place does need a lick of paint, however I used the thought that I have been to MANY posh looking restaurants where the food was crap, so the bricks do not make the food. I will certainly be going back. -

We weren't expecting a gourmet experience here but this was terrible food.
Bad anglicised Chinese food can be great in that 'it's so bad, but soooo good' way, but the basics have to be done right. Here the food was cold, really cold. It was also tasteless. Even old favourites like sweet and sour chicken, and beef in hoi sin were very poor. Horrible gelatinous meat and thick cold sauceyuk. I'm convinced the shredded duck didn't actually contain duck.
They used to have a few sushi bits and bobs but no more just crab sticks and no wasabi!
Terrible desserts.
Beers were cold is the only good thing I can say. There's plenty of choice in China town. Choose something else. -

Went here just last night, I walked through the door cos there looked to be plenty of folks seated in there (thought it would be a good sign). The place does indeed need a lick of paint as it does appear a little grubby. This is one of those chinese eaterys where, as you eat and look around the place, you ponder if you're going to feel well the next day!.
The food was okay, no problems for me n' my pal, it tasted fine enough. It cost under £20 for as much as you can eat for two *plus* a bottle of stella and a tin of John Smiths *included* in the price of under £20 - so vfm wise it was great.
We've survived!!. -

Uh oh, the dreaded buffet. *Chants* please let it be good, please let it be good, please let it be good...
Yowzer. It's not my favourite, I must say. The place is seriously in need of a lick of paint and there's a sense of grubbiness about the place. While there's a gargantuan amount of food, there's no freshness, no crispness, no vitality. Yes, you get a lot for your money, but it's quality not quantity, remember? Oh don't take that too literally, Abode Hotel's restaurant, I do want to be able to SEE my appetisers.
The service is just okay, you're not expecting anything awesomesauce for a buffet restaurant really so we might as well let that one slide. But hygiene-wise I really did get the impression that it was lacking. Yeah, I stuck to the lesser saucy dishes, more to the dry appetisers, somehow I felt safer that way. Students, you deserve better than this. Avoid. AVOID I say! -

On a Saturday in February 2011, we went here to celebrate our daughter's 12th. birthday. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children. Price £6.50 per 'adult' and £4.00 per child. Drinks are on a 2 for 1 basis, but are pricey to make up for that. (e.g. £3.00 for a pint of orange juice, but the pint of pineapple juice ordered with it was free). The meals are slightly cheaper Monday to Friday.
The food is your standard 'eat all you can' buffet. There are a reasonable selection of soups, starters (spring rolls, samosas, wantons, prawn toast etc.), the usual main courses (sweet and sour chicken, ribs, beef and black bean sauce, pork, duck etc.), rice, noodles, salad, fruit and sweets (sadly no banana fritters).
For the meat-eaters there is certainly plenty of choice, however there were very limited vegetarian options. There were no 'English' alternatives (except, for some reason, chips).
Overall the food is well prepared, tasty, and as it's a buffet, plentiful. The containers are re-filled long before they are empty.
We enjoyed our meals here, and would thoroughly recommend it.
Parking is available, but we preferred to park outside the city and catch a tram.
